Company History 

July 2002 Rock Building Supplies was established as a small family business by Deon, Ian and Smit Fourie with not much more than a borrowed bakkie, 5 employees and faith, hope and trust in the future of the Klerksdorp area. By 2007 the business had grown to such an extent that we had to move to bigger premises. The new Rock Building Supplies building was erected in Barend Street, Townlands, Klerksdorp where we are ideally positioned for this industry

Mr N. Nkala bought shares in Rock Building Supplies during March 2020 and had 55% ownership.  On 01 March 2021 Mr. N. Nkala substantially increased his shares from 55% to 85% ownership.  Mr. N. Nkala is a large property developer, and bought the business to diversify his business interests, and source most of his material requirements for his projects.

Mr. N. Nkala is the founder of MXN. He is the Chairman and CEO from inception. He has been in the real estate and construction industry for more than 20 years. He has been involved in major property developments, notably Paarl Waterfront Development (R700 million), Bigbay Development Bonaview (R130 million) and currently N12 West Integrated Developments (R3billion).

Rock Building Supplies ascribe success to competitive prices, staff’s expertise, central and accessible location, and emphasis on quality client service. The inspiration for the name of the business comes from the Biblical lesson that a house should not be built on sand, but on a solid foundation. (Ps18:2) - The Lord is my Rock.
